New feature: Monitor Owners
Learn more about how Metaplane’s latest feature fits into your incident resolution workflow.
In your ongoing journey to refine your data strategy, you’re growing the data team as you continue to build more business intelligence dashboards and reverse ETL syncs. As a seasoned data professional, you’re also ensuring data quality stays top of mind for the entire team, which is why you’ve implemented Metaplane’s automated anomaly detection monitors. When your team does find an incident, the next step in your resolution process will typically be to assign an owner responsible for resolving the incident including pulling in additional team resources and providing status updates to stakeholders.
Our latest feature, monitor ownership, is meant to bridge the gap between the start of your triage process to where your incidents are found. Now, you’ll be able to see who should be responsible foreach failing monitor directly on the page. This can help you and your team understand:
- Who should be responsible for owning that specific incident resolution process
- The starting point for understanding who would have the most context for a monitor’s setup and utility
When you’re the designated owner, you can also set up @mention notifications in your communication tool, such as Slack or Microsoft Teams, to fit seamlessly into your current workflows and ensure that you’re aware of every relevant incident.
With clearly defined ownership, your team will be able to improve resolution times.
There are three ways that you can define monitor owners.
- Pick an owner from a dropdown monitor page UI.
- Pick an owner from the bulk actions menu on the Monitoring page.
- Import owners from your dbt projects.
